Been a hot minute since i blogged, to say things have been busy would be an understatement. All in all 2009 has been a great year, at times challenging, but i like a good challenge.
So 2009, here’s my round up! After making a move out of London and taking several months to get my feet on the ground in NZ, i started a radio show on Christchurch’s arm of the Bnet radio network, RDU 98.5fm. I landed on the Friday drive show, playing every 4-7 pm. Although abliged to stick to RDU’s playlist for the first 2 hours, we’re lucky enough to have a pretty heavy playlist! RDU supports independant music worldwide. The last hour of the show is my own playlist, i switch the music up between hip hop, dubstep, wonky beats, electro and general electronic music, trying to keep the majority, but not all of the music upbeat for a drive show.
Staff at the station have been very supportive of my show, listeners have been amazing, and all in all one of the best radio experiences i’ve had so far. I’ll be continuing Friday Drive in 2010, hoping to keep building on the show, trying to organize more international interviews, and hoping to un-earth some serious Hip Hop related production talent. Big news for 2010 also at the station, i’ve been offered the role of Programme Director which i’ll be taking up at the start of 2010.
With my music production 2009 was also a very busy year. My 2nd album ‘Freedom of Thought’ was released in the UK and most places worldwide. This is getting a release in NZ in March 2010. I decided to offer a remix album available for free download in November! This wasn’t just a bunch of acapella’s over beats, these were proper remixes!! I remixed a couple of singles for Ninja Tune, and have been hard at work on my 3rd studio album proper ‘Postcards from the Edge’. Should have some exclusive audio from the album before the end of 2009.. Watch this space… And i launched this website, phew, did i miss anything???
So you can see i’ve been HARD at it! So on that note, i’ll leave you and say have a good one!
