Here it is, my first proper video! Directed, filmed, edited etc etc by me, i did the whole lot. I’m very happy with the results. We shot this over 2 beautiful evenings and it was veyr much a run and gun shoot. I just sussed some nice locations and we went for it. Shot on my 550d, with the 50mm Takumar, the 28mm Takumar and 12-24 Tokina. Edited aand Graded on Premiere and After Effects.

The most pleasing thing is i’ve spent the last year teaching myself everything, and to come so far in a year excites me. Still a lot to learn, i know where i could of improved this. But for how we did this, and how much time i’ve been learning i couldn’t ask for a better result. Big up to Aeryz, can’t wait to shoot the next project now!

Ghost ‘Golden Age Remixes Vol 1′

Have been meaning to do these for a long, long time.. I get a huge amount of enjoyment out of remixing, i love taking something and switching it up. So after a hiatus of making Hip Hop for a few months i decided to get on it. Here is the first in my ‘Golden Age Remix series’ Vol 1. I didn’t want to do totally obvious remixes so i’ve cherry picked some classics that have been slightly forgotten over the years.

So here it is, the first proper release from my split personality Geesus Host. It’s been a long time in the making, a long, long time. Although i’m a Hip Hop junkie, and always will be, (Hip Hop was my first real love) i first flirted with making other music way back when i was studying Music technology in Manchester. I hooked up with a few other musicians and we were doing our thing making dnb and Jungle. I even ended up playing the Hacienda before it closed as part of this crew. To be honest i was young and very wet behind the ears when it came to the business side of music. I trusted them, and in the end i got burnt.

I’ve enjoyed listening to a lot of electronic music over the last 10 years starting with Speed Garage and all the other underground genres that have surfaced over that time. I’ve made a lot of electronic music alongside the Hip Hop but until the last couple of years i didn’t consider any of it worthy of releasing (i am a total perfectionist). The last couple of years have seen me experiment a lot and now i’m happy with how i’ve progressed.

I love DJ’ing and i like to play music like this when i’m not spinning Hip Hop stuff. I could of released this as Ghost, i’ve been contemplating this for several years also! But, i felt this should be treated as a totally new venture, new music, new vibes.

I’m the eternal optimist, i reckon people that have been following me over the years won’t be overly surprised about the sound of this new mix. It’s still got the Ghost vibes to it, just at 130 ish bpm.

I’m also going to let you in on a little secret, don’t tell no one. The reality is only a bunch of people will probably read this, the rest will listen to the mix and be none the wiser! 12 of the tracks in the mix are my own.

So the mix.. It’s a spacey mix of House, UK Bass type music. I don’t want to get caught up in Genre naming, it is what it is. Just enjoy the music and spread the link on twitter/facebook etc, maybe write some good words on a blog if you like what you hear.

It’s been a long time…

Well hello,

It’s been a while! I’been busy moving house and being a Dad, full time. Doesn’t leave me a lot of time for anything else. Still, i have managed to get them into a routine and therefore giving myself a few hours to play with every day! That’a a plus, it took a few months to get to that point. And even then, for a while i was so tired i had to nap most afternoons when they did to make sure i didn’t fall to pieces, which i did anyway a couple of times haha.

2 under 3 years old ain’t no joke! It’s a total change of lifestyle, you get to fully appreciate how much energy, time, emotion, patience, love, and everything else involved in bringing up healthy children. Big shout out to all the Dad’s (and Mum’s) brining up children the right way.

The last time i really wrote here i’d just started down the path of shooting some video. I did this.. Was only shot very quickly using the one lens, i literally didn’t have time to change cause i was entertaining them both as well as shooting.

i’ve been slowly learning a LOT about filming and videos, and lighting etc etc with the intention of shooting my first film in 2013. I’ve written an outline of a story which i’m really happy with, i’ll now finish that off, get to work on the script and start to look at where to shoot it. It’s a long process that i’m doing largely by myself right now, and i’m spending the majority of my time as a full time Dad. I hope to try and assemble a team to help me shoot the film, and then film mid 2013. If you’re keen, and live in Canterbury, (NZ) holla..

And, if that wasn’t enough, i’m still working on music. I’ve amassed quite a collection of tunes over the last couple of years. A Tale of Life in VI Parts was not something i was intending to make but life threw that curveball and A Tale of Life was written. To be honest i took a 4/5 months off as that EP really took everything out of me. i needed to recover mentally before i was ready to make music again. Thats the longest time out i’ve had from music in 10 years. A month back i felt ready again and have been busy beavering away on new tunes and finishing off the stuff i’d already started.

I see all this music as a bunch of separate projects, i might try and get it all out in 2013 as well.

Won’t be so long before i write again..

Been waiting ages to post this mofo, i produced this track for the homie Lethal Dialect. I rate the guy highly, one of the most honest and real lyricists i’ve heard for a while. I think he does exactly what i like to hear on one of my beats, just put down some real honest heart felt raps. Enjoy this new video he just released, i think it’s a great video, and i’m chuffed to be a part of his album.

Hands up if you’ve been lucky enough to have your music licensed and released in france *holds 2 hands up, 1 for each album*. Yes, i feel pretty lucky that 2 of my albums were licensed and released in Japan. Anyway, i don’t often drag out the photo’s of the CD’s, they had slightly different artwork and tracklistings, so outside if Japan these are rare as fook.

Found this jpeg… Only a handful of these were hand made by me, and given away in London.. if you have one keep it! I used to hand them out at Hip Hop nights i went to in london as i was starting out. Pre You Tube haha, shout to 563 for sorting it out. The big nights at the time were Kung Fu, Breakin Bread and Scratch. i’d go and take a handful of CD’s with me and hand them out. Good times. Kung Fu in particular was always pretty hilarious. I’d go with people like Kashmere and Beat Butcha, usually see Chemo about, and many others.
